Read the peanut butter jar before you buy a pie plate. A lot of “natural” labels still hide sugar in the second line. This no-bake sugar-free peanut butter pie only works as advertised if the jar says peanuts and salt, the sweetener is something other than cane sugar, and you do not “just add a little honey because it needs it.” Honey is sugar. Maple is sugar. Condensed milk is sugar. The pie can still be easy and creamy without them.
I stopped baking this filling years ago. Heat makes peanut butter oily and cream cheese grainy unless you are careful. The fridge does the setting. Almond flour crust, no graham crumbs (those usually come pre-sweetened). Cream cheese for body. Whipped cream for the fluff. Powdered allulose so you do not chew crystals.
This is not a doctor’s note. Peanuts have carbs. Cream has calories. Sugar-free means we skipped added sucrose, not that you can eat the pan. If you manage blood sugar, you already know to count the slice, not the headline.
The salty pretzel version with regular sugar lives here: Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie. Cups instead of a pie: Peanut Butter Mousse with Chocolate Ganache. Frozen, smaller: Frozen Peanut Butter Yogurt Bites.
Want peanut butter in a baked square instead? Peanut Butter Greek Yogurt Blondies. Want a cold layered pan with chocolate and caramel? No Bake Turtle Lush. Both are useful when this pie is already in the fridge and someone still wants a second dessert.
Advice that actually changes the pie
Sweetener. Granular erythritol stays gritty in a cold filling. It also recrystallizes overnight, so day-two pie feels sandy. Powdered erythritol is better. Allulose dissolves and stays smooth. Monk fruit blends are usually erythritol plus monk fruit, so read that bag too. Stevia drops can work in tiny amounts; too many and the pie tastes bitter at the back of your throat. I use 1/2 cup powdered allulose for this 9-inch pie. Taste the filling before you fold in the cream. If it is shy, add a tablespoon. If it is chemical-sweet, you added too much. You cannot fix that with vanilla.
Peanut butter. Stir the oil back in. Measure after stirring. A dry paste plus a puddle of oil gives you a greasy layer on top of the pie. No-stir “natural” with palm oil is easier and still can be sugar-free. Check. Skip anything with molasses or brown sugar in the ingredient list.
Cream cheese. Full-fat brick. Soft. The tub whipped stuff is air and gums. It weeps. Beat the brick alone first so lumps die before peanut butter goes in.
Cream. Cold heavy cream, medium peaks. Fold. If you beat the cream into the peanut base on high, you knock the air out and get a dense fudge pie. Still edible. Less “easy & creamy.”
Crust. Almond flour plus melted butter plus salt. No sweetener required in the crust. A tablespoon of allulose is optional if you miss graham sweetness. Bake is optional. I do not bake it. Twenty minutes in the fridge is enough if you packed it hard. Weak corners crumble when you serve, which looks rustic until the first slice collapses.
Claims. “Sugar-free” on a homemade pie means you did not add table sugar. It does not mean zero carbohydrate or keto unless your other ingredients fit that plan. Almond flour is not zero. I am not labeling this medical food.
- Prep Time: 25 minutes
- Chill Time: 4 hours (overnight is cleaner)
- Total Time: about 4 hours 25 minutes
- Yield: 10 slices (9-inch pie)
Dish & Whip
You need a 9-inch pie dish, a mixer, two bowls, and a spatula. That is the list. If you only have a fork, you can mash cream cheese but you will hate the lumps.
A springform makes neater sides. A regular pie plate is what most people own. I use the pie plate.
Shelf List
Crust:
- Almond flour – 1 1/2 cups (150g)
- Unsalted butter – 4 tbsp (56g), melted
- Fine sea salt – 1/4 tsp
- Powdered allulose – 1 tbsp, optional
Filling:
- Full-fat cream cheese – 8 oz (226g), very soft
- Natural peanut butter, no sugar added – 1 cup (250g), stirred
- Powdered allulose – 1/2 cup (80g) – or powdered erythritol, knowing it may feel cooler on the tongue
- Pure vanilla extract – 1 tsp
- Fine sea salt – 1/4 tsp
- Cold heavy cream – 1 cup (240ml)
Top (optional):
- Extra peanut butter – 2 tbsp, loosened with 1 tsp cream, for drizzle
- Chopped roasted peanuts – 2 tbsp
- Flaky salt – pinch
Label tip: If the sweetener bag says “1:1 sugar replacement,” it is usually a blend. Use the 1/2 cup, then taste. Some blends are stronger. PB tip: One cup is 250g. A heaping cup of unstirred paste is not the same as a stirred cup.
Leo’s Kitchen Notes
The secret to a good peanut butter pie is balancing richness with a light, creamy texture. Peanut butter and cream cheese provide the body, while whipped cream makes the filling softer and more mousse-like.
For the smoothest result, use room-temperature cream cheese and mix it until completely smooth before adding the peanut butter. Cold cream cheese can leave little lumps that are difficult to remove later.
I also recommend tasting the filling before folding in the whipped cream. Different sugar substitutes have different sweetness levels, so it’s easier to adjust the flavor at this stage.
Before You Start
A few small steps make this recipe much easier:
- Let the cream cheese soften at room temperature.
- Chill your mixing bowl and beaters before whipping the cream.
- Crush the cookies finely so the crust holds together.
- Use a pie plate or pie dish that is approximately 9 inches (23 cm) wide.
- Make sure you have enough refrigerator space for the pie to chill flat.
Press, Whip, Set
1. Crust.
Mix almond flour, melted butter, salt, and optional allulose until it holds when squeezed. Press into the dish, up the sides. Pack the corners with a flat-bottomed cup. Fridge 20 minutes while you make filling. If the crust looks dry and will not stick, 1 extra teaspoon butter. If it looks wet, 1 extra tablespoon almond flour.
2. Peanut base.
Beat cream cheese 1 minute. No lumps. Add peanut butter, powdered allulose, vanilla, salt. Beat until it looks like thick frosting. Taste now. This is the last easy moment to adjust sweetness. It should taste a little too intense. Cream will calm it.
3. Cream. Whip the cold cream to medium-stiff peaks in a clean bowl. Stir one-third into the peanut mix to loosen. Fold the rest. Streaks of white are fine for one more fold. Stop before it looks deflated.
4. Fill.
Spread into the cold crust. Smooth the top. Cover loosely. Fridge at least 4 hours. Overnight if you want slices that stand up on a plate instead of slumping like pudding.
5. Finish. Drizzle loosened peanut butter. Peanuts. Flaky salt. Hot knife, wipe between cuts. First slice is messy even when you did everything right. Serve it anyway.
Cold, salty-sweet, creamy. Coffee without sugar if that is the point of the pie. A regular sugary pie lives on this site if you decide tonight is not a sugar-free night.
Fork Chill
Eat it cold. Fifteen minutes on the counter takes the fridge bite off. An hour on the counter and the filling slumps.
Advice for serving: small slices. This is rich. Ten wedges from a 9-inch is not stingy. Eight wedges look generous and then people go quiet because peanut butter is filling.
Pretzel crust and sugar: Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie. Mousse cups: Peanut Butter Mousse with Chocolate Ganache. Frozen bites: Frozen Peanut Butter Yogurt Bites.
Baked peanut butter squares: Peanut Butter Greek Yogurt Blondies. Fridge layers with chocolate: No Bake Turtle Lush.
Peanuts, dairy, almonds in the crust. Say all three. “Sugar-free” does not mean allergen-free.
Swap List
Erythritol only: Powder it in a blender. Expect a cooling taste. Some people hate that. I use allulose to avoid it.
No allulose in your store: Powdered monk-fruit erythritol blend, 1/3 to 1/2 cup, taste as you go.
Sunflower seed butter: Nut-free filling. A little more salt. The crust is still almond unless you switch that too. Coconut flour crust is tricky (thirsty). Crushed pork rinds are a keto move I will mention and not pretend is for everyone.
Chocolate top: 2 oz sugar-free chocolate, melted, cooled slightly, poured on the set pie. Chill 30 minutes more.
Mini cups: Same filling, 8 ramekins, skip the crust or press a spoon of crust in each. Party math. Two-hour chill is enough in a small cup.
Store sugar-free whipped topping: You can fold a tub instead of whipping cream. Texture is lighter and a bit fake. I prefer cream. The topping often has its own sweeteners and fillers. Read it.
Advice on “keto”: this pie can fit a lower-carb pattern if your sweetener agrees with you and you keep the slice size honest. I am not printing keto macros as gospel because almond flour brands differ.
Slice Math
| Nutrient | Amount Per Slice (1 of 10, with drizzle, allulose) |
|---|---|
| Calories | 380 kcal |
| Protein | 10 g |
| Carbohydrates | 9 g |
| Fats | 34 g |
| Fiber | 3 g |
| Sugar | 2 g |
The 2 grams of sugar are from dairy and peanuts, not from a bag of white sugar. Allulose is not counted the same as sucrose on every label in every country. If you track net carbs, use the system you already use. Calories are still 380. Sugar-free is not a magic word that deletes fat.
Cold Box
Fridge: Covered, 4 days. Best on day 2, when the crust has settled and the sweetener has fully dissolved.
Freezer: Wrap the whole pie after 1 hour in the freezer, then up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge. Erythritol pies can feel sandier after a freeze. Allulose holds up better.
Do not leave it in a hot car. Filling becomes peanut soup.
Whipped cream on top, if you add extra, goes on the day you serve. The filling already has cream folded in. More clouds on top are optional theater.
Soft Pie Traps
Sweetened peanut butter. You just made a regular pie. Read the jar.
Granular erythritol, unpowdered. Grit. Blend it first.
Cold cream cheese. Lumps that never leave. Soften.
Hot butter in the crust, then filling immediately. Melts. Chill the crust.
Overwhipped cream. Grainy, then butter. Medium-stiff.
Two hours of chill, then a dinner-party slice. It will slump. Four hours. Overnight is kinder.
Honey “just a drizzle” on a sugar-free pie. Then it is not sugar-free. Put fruit on the side if you need extra sweet.
Calling it calorie-free. Don’t.
Skipping the peanut announcement. Don’t.
If the filling tastes metallic, it is usually cheap stevia or a stale monk-fruit blend. Switch bags. If it tastes bland, you skipped salt. Peanut butter without salt in a pie is beige. If the crust crumbles, you under-pressed or under-buttered. Press leftovers into the plate with a spoon and keep eating. Nobody grades the bottom.
I keep allulose in a jar next to the coffee so I do not “just use sugar this once.” That is the whole habit. The pie is the reward for reading a label and waiting four hours.
No-Bake Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Pie
No graham crumbs, no condensed milk, no honey. Almond flour crust pressed hard, cream cheese beaten smooth, no-sugar peanut butter, powdered allulose and vanilla, cold heavy cream folded for fluff. Fridge-set — creamy, salty-sweet, sliceable by morning.
Ingredients 01
1 cup = 250g after stirring. A heaping cup of dry paste plus a puddle of oil ≠ a cup — that gives you greasy top + sandy base. If the bag says “1:1 sugar replacement,” it is usually erythritol + monk fruit — use ½ cup then taste, some blends are stronger. Sweetened jar = regular pie. Read peanuts + salt only.

How to Cook 02
Mix 150g almond flour + 56g melted butter + ¼ tsp salt and optional 1 Tbsp allulose until it holds when squeezed. Press into 9-inch pie dish, up the sides. Pack corners with a flat-bottomed cup — weak corners crumble on first slice. Fridge 20 minutes. If dry won’t stick: +1 tsp butter. If wet: +1 Tbsp almond flour. No bake needed.
Beat 226g very soft cream cheese 1 minute — no lumps. Add 250g stirred peanut butter + 80g powdered allulose + 1 tsp vanilla + ¼ tsp salt. Beat to thick frosting. Taste now — last easy fix. A little too intense is right; cream will calm it. Shy? +1 Tbsp allulose. Chemical-sweet? You overshot, vanilla won’t rescue it.
In a clean bowl whip 240ml cold heavy cream to medium-stiff peaks. Stir one-third into peanut base to loosen. Fold the rest — streaks of white for one more fold is fine. Stop before deflated. Beating the cream into the base on high = dense fudge, not fluff.
Spread into cold crust, smooth top. Cover loosely. Fridge at least 4 hours. Overnight is cleaner — slices stand up instead of slumping like pudding. 2 hours is not a dinner-party slice.
Loosen 2 Tbsp peanut butter with 1 tsp cream, drizzle. Scatter 2 Tbsp peanuts + pinch flaky salt. Hot knife, wipe between cuts. First slice is messy even when perfect — serve it anyway. Eat cold; 15 min on counter softens the bite, an hour slumps.
Notes 03
Granular erythritol = grit + sandy day 2 (recrystallizes). Powdered erythritol is better but cooling on the tongue. Allulose dissolves and stays smooth — I use ½ cup powdered allulose. Monk fruit blends are usually erythritol + monk fruit, so read the bag. Stevia drops work in tiny amounts; too much = bitter throat. Taste before folding cream.
Stir oil back in, measure after. Dry paste + oil puddle = greasy top layer. No-stir palm-oil “natural” can be sugar-free — check for molasses/brown sugar. Full-fat brick cream cheese, very soft. Whipped tub is air + gums, it weeps. Beat brick alone first — lumps that go in now never leave.
Cold heavy cream to medium peaks. Fold gently. Beating on high knocks air out — still edible, less “easy & creamy.” Store-bought sugar-free whipped topping works folded in (1 tub) but tastes lighter/fake and has its own sweeteners. I prefer cream. Overwhipped = grainy, then butter.
Almond flour + butter + salt. No sweetener required; 1 Tbsp allulose optional for graham memory. No bake needed — 20 min fridge if packed hard. Springform = neater sides; pie plate is what most own. For nut-free filling use sunflower seed butter but crust is still almond unless swapped — coconut flour is thirsty, pork rinds are a keto move I mention without recommending.
Erythritol only: powder in blender, expect cooling. No allulose: ⅓–½ cup monk-fruit erythritol blend, taste as you go. Chocolate top: 2 oz sugar-free chocolate, melted, cooled, pour on set pie, chill 30 min. Mini cups: same filling into 8 ramekins, spoon of crust or none — 2-hour chill enough. Sunflower butter: + pinch salt.
Sugar-free = no added sucrose, not zero carbs. Almond flour, peanuts, cream have carbs + calories. Don’t call it calorie-free. Traps: sweetened PB, cold brick lumps, hot butter then immediate filling, overwhipped cream, 2-hour “dinner party” slice, honey drizzle. Tastes metallic? Cheap stevia/stale blend. Bland? You skipped salt. Crumbles? Under-pressed. Allergens: peanuts, dairy, almonds.
